Some plants, like xerophytes, have hair on their leaves to prevent evaporation.
Other plants have different celluar structure, most plants use the C3 cycle, when carbon compound is broken into three parts, but some desert plants have C4 cycle, which the carbon compound is broken into four parts.
Desert plants are known to become dormant to cope with extreme weather in the desert.
Some other desert plants store energy in the roots when they blossom.

Many desert animals live in burrows to avoid sunlight during the day
Some Animals have long body parts to dissipate heat.
Kangaroo rats are able to manufacture water by some process of digestion of dry seeds.
Animals like the camel have fatty tissue to preserve water.
